Employee Connection Groups
About
Employee Connection Groups at KU are self-governing bodies that are supported by the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX (OCRTIX). OCRTIX serves as a point of contact between the groups and the campus community. All staff and faculty across all KU campuses and instructional sites are welcome to join any Employee Connection Groups.

Allyship
The Allyship Affinity Group provides a space for employees who are committed to fostering a respectful and welcoming workplace. Through learning, reflection, and dialogue, members develop the skills and awareness needed to support colleagues and contribute to a culture of mutual respect across our community.
AMPLIFIED
The mission of AMPLIFIED is to foster a welcoming and supportive community for researchers and staff by creating opportunities for connection, dialogue, education, and professional growth. Through monthly presentations, quarterly events, networking, and professional development opportunities, AMPLIFIED fosters leadership and collaboration within the clinical and basic research community while increasing awareness of research and the opportunities it provides to improve patient care.
Asian and Asian American Faculty Staff Council
The Asian and Asian-American Faculty and Staff Council (AAAFSC), serves to advance the professional growth, social support, and full participation of Asians and Asian-Americans at the University. It is a resource for information sharing, networking, and leadership.
Black Faculty Staff Council
The Black Faculty and Staff Council (BFSC) is committed to the future of the University and Lawrence community. Throughout the year, BFSC discusses issues of concern to students, staff, and faculty. In BFSC, members will find opportunities to network with students, staff, faculty, and alumni.
Faculty Staff Council for Disability Inclusion
The Faculty Staff Council for Disability Inclusion promotes, recommends, and advocates for a climate of full inclusion across all aspects of life at the University of Kansas and beyond. The Council meets monthly to discuss disability issues, provide resources and expertise, promote disability as an integral component of diversity and develop policies to further advance the goal of full inclusion of individuals with disabilities.
First-Generation Faculty and Staff Council
The First-Generation Faculty Staff Council promotes belonging for students, staff, and faculty of all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses at the University of Kansas, with a focus on current and former first-generation college students.
FOCUS
FOCUS provides opportunities for fellowship and community building, as well as opportunities to foster research collaborations to enhance academic and professional growth.
International Faculty Staff Council
The International Faculty and Staff Council supports and encourages advocacy within the international community at KU. The goal of the council is to gain membership, build the council’s infrastructure, and begin work on advocating for some of the greatest challenges of the international staff and faculty community at KU.

INSPIRE: International Students & Professionals Interconnected in Research & Ed…
INSPIRE brings together staff, faculty, and learners from international backgrounds to foster connection, mentorship, and professional growth. Through networking, resource sharing, and peer support, the group helps members navigate academic and professional life while building a stronger sense of community and belonging at KU Medical Center.
Jewish Faculty Staff Council
The Jewish Faculty and Staff Council plans social gatherings, discusses current events, and advocates for identity-based issues on campus. The group is unaffiliated with other Jewish organizations or groups and seeks to be a space for all Jews while elevating and celebrating intersectional identities.
Latinx Faculty Staff Council
The mission of the Latinx Faculty and Staff Council (LFSC) at the University of Kansas is to provide a forum for understanding the issues of concern to the Latinx academic community, assist the university in recruiting and retaining Hispanic/Latinx students, staff, and faculty, and provide networking opportunities for Hispanic/Latinx faculty and staff.
Native Faculty Staff Council
The mission of the Native Faculty and Staff Council (NFSC) is to increase the recruitment, retention, leadership, and success of Native people at the University of Kansas. The Native Faculty and Staff Council promotes a positive academic and social environment at KU.
PRISM: LGBTQIA+ Group
PRISM is a LGBTQIA+ affinity group for KU Medical Center employees and students focused on belonging, allyship, advocacy, and community-building. Through regular gatherings, community service projects, resource sharing, and quarterly book clubs, among other activities, PRISM creates space for connection and empowerment.
Sexuality and Gender Diversity Faculty Staff Council
The Sexuality and Gender Diversity Faculty and Staff Council (SGDFSC) supports the LGBTQIA+ communities through programs and initiatives focused on growing a culturally rich campus through community building, advocacy, social justice and education, leadership, and the development of informed citizens.
TIPIS: Together Indigenous People Inspiring Success
This group focuses on creating community and support for Indigenous persons at KU Medical Center, including providing mentorship, increasing visibility of indigenous cultures, and promoting indigenous health initiatives.
Women of Color Support Network
The Women of Color Support Network is a supportive community for all staff and faculty on KU campuses. The purpose of this group, in tandem with other affinity councils, is to bridge the gap of support for social interaction, professional development, and mentor access across campuses for Women of Color.

All staff and faculty at the University of Kansas are welcome to join any Employee Connection Group. Click the following link to fill out the form if you are interested in starting a new Employee Connection Group to bring KU employees together around a common topic, identity, or interest. Examples of potential new Employee Connection Groups could include, but are not limited to, Care Takers, Working Parents, Religious and Spiritual, Artists, Veterans, Young Professionals, etc.
