Other Options for Addressing Concerns

At times, complainants may want to address their concerns through a variety of means, or with a different office all together. We want to empower everyone to make the decisions that are best for them.

Other Reporting Options

OCRTIX resolution processes are independent of any other complaint resolution process. In addition to engaging with KU's OCRTIX, those who experience discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, or retaliation are also encouraged to pursue other options. Some options may include:

  • The University of Kansas Hotline
  • Contacting and exploring options with Human Resources.
  • Contacting and exploring options with Faculty Affairs.
  • Utilizing the KU Policy Library.
  • Contacting and exploring options with law enforcement.
  • Contacting state and federal agencies.

State and Federal Reporting of Discrimination

Employees may file employment discrimination complaints with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Kansas Human Rights Commission. Students may file discrimination complaints through the Office of Civil Rights in the U.S. Department of Education or the Kansas Human Rights Commission. The KU OCRTIX can provide information about deadlines and filing procedures for state and federal agencies.
