Spencer Center
The mission of the Spencer Center is to foster a campus environment where each Jayhawk can worship, pray, meditate, or reflect. Honoring many approaches, the Spencer Center provides multifaceted opportunities for tending to wholeness within oneself, our campus community, & beyond. The Spencer Center is open to all KU & KU Medical Center learners, staff, faculty, and affiliates; badge access is required.
The Spencer Center is a space for:
- Spiritual & reflective gathering & group support
- Meditation & quiet time
- Prayer & reflection
- Celebrations & sacred observances
- Religious & spiritual practices
- Interfaith community services

Spencer Center Programming
The Spencer Center is open to individuals and groups interested in spiritual expression, interfaith engagement, or hosting gatherings. There are several recurring programs in the space, including:
- Monday Morning Spiritual Gathering: Start your week with guided reflection and peaceful connection. Open to all traditions and beliefs.
- Every other Monday | 8:30 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. | Hybrid
- Salaah-al-Jumu'ah (Friday Prayers): Islamic prayer open to Muslims practicing all sects of Islam and all non-Muslims who wish to attend. Prayer rugs and ablution facilities are available.
- Fridays | 1:15 P.M. – 1:45 P.M.
- Catholic Mass: Led by Father Mitchell Zimmerman and open to all who wish to attend.
- Mondays | 12:15 P.M. – 1:15 P.M.
- Prayer Wall Burning: Prayers placed on the Spencer Center prayer wall will be respectfully gathered and removed by an ordained minister. They will be silently prayed over, honoring the intentions and needs they represent. Following this, a ceremonial return-to-earth burning will take place, symbolizing release, renewal, and the continuation of care for each request entrusted to this space. Open to all who wish to attend.

Reserve the Space
The Spencer Center is located in Orr Major North Lobby, B020; badge access is required.
The Spencer Center spaces are available for reservation for approved events through the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX.
- Gathering A (B022A) – events are limited to two hours per event, maximum capacity: 34 occupants**
- Gathering B (B022B) – events are limited to two hours per event, maximum capacity: 33 occupants**
- Large Room (Combined Gathering A & B) - events are limited to two hours per event, maximum capacity: 67 occupants**
- Gathering C (B022C) – events are limited to two hours per event, maximum capacity: 30 occupants**
