Attempted Motor Vehicle Theft

 

An attempted motor vehicle theft occurred at 4:06 p.m. on Oct. 14 in lot 96 by two unknown suspects. Lot 96 is west of Rainbow Boulevard and south of Midwest Bank. The alleged suspects fled the scene when the car alarm sounded. At 12:34 a.m. on Oct. 15, the same alleged suspects returned to campus and entered the P2 parking garage. KU Medical Center Police responded immediately causing the alleged suspects to flee the scene, causing damage to the P2 garage gate arm in the process.

University police are investigating. Anyone with additional information regarding these incidents should call KU Medical Center Police at 913-588-5030.

This notice is distributed in compliance with the “Timely Warning” provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act, commonly known as the Clery Act.

Safety Tips:

  • Always lock your vehicle, ensuring windows and sunroofs are closed, even if you are leaving it for a short time.
  • Do not leave keys and valuables in your car or ignition. Store valuable items in safer spaces like the glovebox and trunk.
  • If someone is tampering with a vehicle, report suspicious activity to campus police immediately at 913-588-5030.
