Introduction to Belonging Training


In this two-part training, KU employee participants will engage in intrapersonal reflection, learn key concepts, and strengthen interpersonal engagement strategies for fostering belonging in their workplace.  

The below pre-scheduled trainings are open to all KU and KU Medical Center employees. Groups may request an Introduction to Belonging session and/or other training content for their specific unit by contacting belonging@ku.edu.

*All Fall 2026 Introduction to Belonging trainings will be held virtually via Zoom. Please register for a session to receive meeting information.

 

PART 1 – Foundational Concepts

In Part 1, participants will be introduced to and explore key concepts, including but not limited to: belonging, psychological safety, social identities, and bias, through the lens of KU’s IRISE values.

  • Wednesday, October 28th, 2026 | 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

 

PART 2 – Discussion  

Part 2 will be an opportunity for participants to revisit what they learned in Part 1 and further apply those lessons to their day-to-day interactions. In Part 2, participants and OCRTIX staff will explore options for intervening and practice engaging case studies – whether from participants’ experiences or provided scenarios.

  • Tuesday, November 17th, 2026 | 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
  • Wednesday, December 9th, 2026 | 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.

Registration is required. Ensure you register for both Part 1: Foundational Concepts, and Part 2: Discussion. Individuals should not attend a Part 2 session unless they have completed Part 1.
