Office of Civil Rights & Title IX names Dr. Lisa Borello as Director of Program Alignment for KU Medical Center

The Office of Civil Rights & Title IX welcomes Dr. Lisa Borello as the Director of Program Alignment for KU Medical Center. Her leadership will oversee the Kansas City, Salina, and Wichita campuses and will contribute to the Chancellor’s One University initiative, providing consistency across all of our campuses. In this role, she will serve as a guide for ongoing prevention, awareness, and aftercare in response to reports and complaints received by the office.

Dr. Borello has over 20 years of experience in both public and private higher education, holding various roles that include policy development, program management, grant administration, and overseeing initiatives aimed at student success. As a medical sociologist, her research focuses on gender, the technologies of the body, and the representation and advancement of historically excluded groups in STEM fields.

As Director of Program Alignment, Dr. Borello aims to help foster environments where students, learners, staff, and faculty feel seen, valued, and connected to the university's mission and to each other. She believes, “our efforts should be shaped by the communities we serve; I'll focus on listening and engaging in conversations to better understand the unique needs, traditions, and culture of each campus.”

Dr. Borello is enthusiastic about learning from others and collaborating to create meaningful opportunities. With Dr. Borello, the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX is excited to embrace new collaboration opportunities and initiatives that support our shared mission, vision, and values at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
