Ashley Oliver, M.D.

Dr. Ashley Oliver is a Jewish-American physician whose work as a cardiac anesthesiologist bridges clinical expertise with a commitment to patient-centered care. Born in Boston, Massachusetts, she earned her medical degree from Columbia University’s Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her anesthesiology residency at the University of California, San Francisco, where she served as Chief Resident. She went on to complete a fellowship in adult cardiothoracic anesthesia at UCLA, where she now serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor and practices in one of the most demanding subspecialties of perioperative medicine. Before pursuing medicine, Dr. Oliver earned a Master's degree in Film Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and began doctoral work in the humanities, a background that continues to shape her thoughtful and communicative approach to patient care. She now works closely with surgical teams on high-risk procedures, including open-heart surgeries and other complex operations requiring advanced anesthetic management.

Dr. Oliver’s multifaceted identities as both Black and Jewish American bring depth and perspective to her work as a clinician and educator. With a strong foundation in academic medicine, she continues to contribute to anesthesiology through both practice and teaching, helping to train the next generation of physicians in a field where precision, collaboration, and empathy are essential.
