In recognition of Pride Month, the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX will host a multi-part program, “Looking Back, Moving Forward: The Legacy of AIDS in Kansas City,” examining the history and lasting impact of HIV/AIDS in the region. The program will begin in Kansas City with tabling opportunities to connect with local community organizations, followed by screenings of AIDS in KC: The History of HIV/AIDS in Kansas City on both the Kansas City and Wichita campuses. Following the film screening, a hybrid panel discussion will take place in Kansas City and will feature filmmaker Sandy Woodson, along with medical providers and scholarly experts. The panel will be livestreamed at the Wichita campus and available via Zoom for additional attendees. Panelists will reflect on how lessons from this history continue to inform clinical practice, research, and patient-centered care today. Join us for an engaging learning experience that highlights the importance of collaboration, education, and compassionate care in building healthy and vibrant communities. Refreshments will be provided. Open to all KU and KU Medical Center students, learners, staff, faculty, and affiliates.
