Interactive Presentation

November 19, 11:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M. | Zoom webinar only | Trumba registration

Accurate data is essential to building healthy and vibrant communities. Join us for an interactive virtual presentation, “Invisible No More: Confronting Data Erasure of American Indians and Alaska Natives in Public Health Reporting” as a part of our Native American Heritage Month Observance. This session, featuring experts from the CDC Foundation, California Tribal Epidemiology Center, and California Rural Indian Health Board, examines how data misclassification distorts public health reporting for American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) populations—impacting health outcomes, research, and policy across Kansas and beyond. Through examples in maternal health and other key areas, participants will explore strategies to correct misclassification and strengthen the accuracy of AIAN health data. Together, we’ll consider how comprehensive data practices foster a true community of care and advance innovation in public health research. Open to all KU and KUMC students, learners, faculty, staff, and affiliates.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all KU-sponsored events. If you require reasonable accommodations in order to participate, please contact the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX at belonging-kumc@kumc.edu.
