Working With Faculty & Staff Councils

Candidates for staff or faculty positions at the University of Kansas have the opportunity to connect with current employees who are members of Faculty Staff Councils to get another perspective on being a part of the Jayhawk community and living near one of our campuses.

Request a Meeting

Process for Job Candidate & Faculty Staff Councils

1
Candidates complete meeting request form, which will be automatically sent to current leadership of the Council(s) they are interested in. To increase chances of arranging a meeting or connection point, we encourage candidates to submit this request form with as much advanced notice as possible.
2
Faculty Staff Council leadership will utilize their communication channels to request member volunteers for a meeting with job candidates. Council members will use information provided in the request form to get in contact with the candidate.
3
Faculty Staff Council member and job candidate set a time to meet in-person during an on-campus interview or at another mutually agreeable time. Job candidates should come prepared with a few questions or topics they'd like to discuss. The information discussed in these conversations should not be shared with search committees or KU Human Resources, unless there is a concern of potential harassment or discriminations.

Why do I have to go through your office?

This process is administered by the Impact & Belonging Team in the Office of Civil Rights & Title IX. We will never share information with search committees about which candidates have or have not requested meetings with Faculty Staff Councils. Nor will we share which councils candidates did or did not express an interest in meeting.

The Councils very much appreciate the opportunity to connect with candidates and work to find available volunteers for opportunities when I&B reaches out.

Search Committee Chairs and candidates should not contact individual councils with these requests.

If you have questions or concerns, please email belonging@ku.edu. Emailing individual staff members can end up delaying the process in the event that someone is out of office.
